REBHI Hosts GBV AoR Global Coordinator to Strengthen Protection and Locally Led Humanitarian Action

The Rehabilitation Empowerment and Better Health Initiative (REBHI) was privileged to receive Jennifer Chase, the GBV Area of Responsibility (AoR) Global Coordinator, at the REBHI office, where she met with the Acting Executive Director, Ajikatu Alkali Imam.

Beyond the valuable discussions on protection programming and GBV prevention and response, the visit was also deeply personal and heartfelt, as Jennifer shared a longstanding friendship with the late Executive Director, Barr. Fatima Shehu Imam. The visit served as a moment to reflect on her remarkable legacy and enduring contributions to humanitarian action and the protection of vulnerable populations.

During the engagement, REBHI highlighted its ongoing interventions and achievements in protection, GBV prevention and response, community engagement, and support for vulnerable women and girls across conflict-affected communities.

Jennifer was also taken on a tour of the REBHI Production Centre, where survivors of Gender-Based Violence are being empowered through skills acquisition initiatives, including the production of reusable sanitary pads, hijabs, and face masks. These livelihood activities are designed to promote self-reliance, restore dignity, and strengthen resilience among women and girls.

We are deeply grateful for the visit, the insightful discussions, and the continued encouragement toward strengthening locally led humanitarian action and advancing protection outcomes for vulnerable communities.

Together, we remain committed to building safer, more resilient, and inclusive communities.
