Rehabilitation Empowerment and Better Health Initiative (REBHI) in collaboration with Northeast Regional Initiative (NERI) have successfully implemented the project titled “Youth for Community Cleanup and Peace Building in Kareto Community of Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno state”. It was a cash for work project that was aimed at empowering youth (men and women) to promote peaceful coexistance in their community. A total of one hundred and fifty (150) beneficiaries were empowered through the project. After a period of one month REBHI team returned to Kareto community for the monitoring and evaluation of beneficiaries who benefitted from the cash, to our amusement quite a good number of the beneficiries had used their funds judiously. One Hajja Kullu was seen grinding tomatoes with the grinding machine she had just bought from the cash that was giving to her, another young man by name Abdullahi had bought livestock for rearing, another had established a provision shop, another lady was also seen frying beans egg which is popularly known as kosai in Hausa. The project was generally successful since it has put smiles on the faces of the men and women of Kareto community.
