NHF/UNFPA PROJECT

The centrality of gender equality, women’s empowerment and the realization of women’s right in achieving sustainable development has been increasingly recognized in recent decades. The project “Addressing the Critical Dignity and Menstrual Hygiene Needs of Women and Girls of Reproductive Age in Borno State” addressed women and girls health and dignity needs through the timely provision of locally produced and packaged dignity kits. The project was a six months United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) funded project that was implemented by the Rehabilitation Empowerment and Better Health Initiative (REBHI) and Royal Heritage Health Foundation (RHHF). Three women led groups/association provided the other content of the dignity kit produced locally. Forty women and girls were engaged and trained on the production of reusable menstrual pad at the dignity kit production and assembly centre. Four thousand women and girls were selected and distributed with the standardized dignity kit. Nine thousand two hundred and sixty (9260) were sensitized on SGBV and menstrual hygiene management at the GSSSS, NRC, Ngurno, Veterinary, Bakassi and NYSC IDP camps in Monguno and Maiduguri respectively. Four Monthly review meetings were held with the Task Force that was establish by REBHI, these members were selected from the GBV sub sector.
